Maria Aleman is SBWIB YouthBuild’s Academic Counselor. She supports students by keeping record of their graduation status. She has been at YouthBuild since 2016 and has worked and partnered with different non-profit organizations, LA CAUSA, SGVCC and currently working at SBWIB.

Maria graduated from Cal State, Long Beach in 2009 and earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice, with the goal of becoming a Youth Probation Officer. She was a DACA receipt and worked really hard to achieve her goal of pursuing a higher education after graduating from High School.

Maria has always been inspired by the hard work her parents have shown her growing up and she believes that with hard work and dedication everything is possible. She is driven by her faith in believing that the greatest reward in life is being able to make a positive impact in someone else’s life.
