Meet Dylan Rock

Workforce Challenge:

Twenty-two-year-old Dylan Rock of Redondo Beach was unemployed and facing the challenges of searching for employment. He heard about the Aero-Flex Pre-Apprenticeship program offered at the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center – Torrance.

Workforce Solution:

Dylan met with a career advisor, completed an entry assessment, and was deemed eligible for the youth program. Through services at the One-Stop and through the Aero-Flex Pre-Apprenticeship program, Dylan received resume building, Blueprint for Workplace Success, and job experience at OSI Systems in Hawthorne.

Outcome and Benefits:

Dylan’s worksite supervisor at OSI Systems noticed his potential and encouraged him to apply with one of the companies’ contractors as a services technician at the end of his work experience. Dylan applied and was successfully hired full-time as a HVAC service technician with C&L Refrigeration, an industrial refrigeration company, and is earning $25/hour with benefits. Dylan expressed the difficulty it is to get a job in his position given his age and experience and expresses gratitude to be where he’s at.

“I would encourage others to explore and take advantage of the great opportunities that the One Stop has to offer. Whether it be finding what career path, finding a job, help with a resume, the One Stop has many tools at their disposal to help with a variety of different needs.”
