Centinela Valley Union High School District

Partner Story:

Centinela Valley Union High School District (CVUHSD) has been an outstanding partner of the SBWIB, working closely to bring career-connected learning to students across multiple academies and pathways. We are onsite throughout the year providing services and support to their students and academies, helping to connect them with meaningful work-based learning opportunities. Over the past year, CVUHSD students benefited from 10 school based internship programs and 5 pre-apprenticeship cohorts, with 117 students completing an internship or pre-apprenticeship experience. From opportunities in the Culinary Careers Academy with Fyrebird and Leu’s Café, to training through the Academy of Cinematic Arts, to marine science placements with the Los Angeles Maritime Institute, SBWIB and CVUHSD have helped students connect classroom learning to real-world applications while building critical career skills.

Specialized pathways like Music Recording, Bio-Medical Careers, and the School of Manufacturing and Engineering also thrived. Students participated in CNA training, aerospace manufacturing internships with Hadrian Automation, and hands-on music production. At Hawthorne High, the Aero-Flex pre-apprenticeship provided training and career exposure in aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Students in the Multimedia Careers Academy produced campus broadcasts with Leuzinger TV, while others explored sustainability, wood technology, and design-focused internships. Expanded pre-apprenticeship opportunities introduced students to event production, sound design, and digital editing.

Through this collaboration, SBWIB and CVUHSD are equipping students for successful futures while strengthening the South Bay workforce pipeline. In recognition of their exceptional partnership, commitment to career-connected learning, and dedication to providing students with hands-on experiences that prepare them for the workforce, SBWIB is proud to honor the Centinela Valley Union High School District with the Partner Award.
