Meet Vantrice Dowdell

Workforce Challenge:

Vantrice Dowdell is a single mother of four daughters, aged 14 to 4. She was unemployed and facing challenges in finding work and opportunities for advancement. She encountered difficulties due to a lack of experience and skills gaps. While receiving public assistance through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services, Ms. Dowdell was referred to the South Bay One-Stop in Carson for employment and placement assistance.

Meet Vantrice Dowdell

Workforce Solution:

The TSE Coordinator, conducted the initial intake process and her pre-placement interview. Ms. Dowdell completed the enrollment process and the Blueprint for Workplace Success training, which provided her with relevant career advancement skills. Subsequently, she was placed on a Paid Work Experience (PWEX) assignment at Augustus F. Hawkins Mental Health Center in Los Angeles, California.

Outcome and Benefits:

As a General Office Clerk, Ms. Dowdell received outstanding reviews and made the most of her training opportunity. She worked diligently and completed her PWEX in April. Shortly after, she began working with a TSE Job Developer, and in July, she received an offer from Los Angeles County. Ms. Dowdell is currently employed full-time as an Intermediate Clerk Typist for the Department of Public Social Services.
