After over a year of unemployment, Margaret Liu was financially dependent on her retired parents and struggling to find work. Despite 15 years of project management experience, she lacked formal certifications, making it difficult to compete in the job market. Seeking support, she visited the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center in Torrance, hoping for training assistance. There, she received more than funding: Her career coordinator provided encouragement that helped rebuild her confidence.

Margaret pursued and completed certifications in Project Management (PMP) and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. With her new credentials, she quickly secured two jobs and had a third opportunity in progress, transforming her career prospects and restoring her independence.
