Meet Esmia Saldivar
After being a stay-at-home mom for five years, this Lomita resident, Esmia Saldivar, was ready to reenter the workforce. She aimed for an administrative role but lacked the necessary computer skills. Seeking support, she enrolled in adult school classes and visited the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center in Torrance.
Open to starting in customer service, she faced personal challenges that briefly paused Esmia’s job search, but she stayed committed to her goals. Esmia’s job developer helped her create a resume and suggested she apply for a seasonal call center position at See’s Candy.
Esmia was hired, gaining valuable experience that continued even after the holidays. She now balances work, classes, and parenting, grateful for the support that helped her restart her career.
