Meet Destini Taylor - Carson
Workforce Challenge:
Destini Taylor, a 21-year-old single mother-to-be, visited the South Bay One-Stop Center for job search and training assistance to enter the healthcare field.
Workforce Solution:
Her career counselor helped her to apply for a Nurse Assistant License certification offered at Pathways College.
Outcome and Benefits:
Despite balancing the demands of coursework and her pregnancy, she completed the program and became a Certified Nurse Assistant. She initially found employment with Cambrian Homecare after giving birth, but the position required her to work evenings and weekends, which made it difficult to care for her child. Destini moved to another position with Avalon Villa Health Care Center earning $19.00 per hour where she can better care for her child.
