Meet Kathy Kirk

Workforce Challenge:

Kathy Kirk, Redondo Beach resident, was a Sr. Director/ Managing Principal when her business unit was disbanded and her position was eliminated in June of 2019. She sought unemployment services through EDD and was referred to the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center in Torrance.

Workforce Solution:

Kathy was assigned a career counselor who provided valuable feedback, support and resource to her resume, career transition and search. In addition, Kathy benefitted from the WIOA-funded training and completed the Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Agile PMO training program through University of La Verne. The One-Stop also provided her with career networking events, like the Career BridgeBuilders coaching and networking group at American Marty’s Church in Manhattan Beach which she recommends.

Outcome and Benefits:

Kathy landed and accepted an offer as the Principal Solution Architect (Client Advisor) at the third largest enterprise software company at the height of COVID-19, under historically challenging and worsening business and economic conditions. She is currently partnering with executives in the retail and fashion industry to navigate through the current business challenges, preserve working capital and embark on accelerated digital transformation.

“South Bay One-Stop offers great programs, services and support for anyone undergoing career transition, regardless of your job type, skill/ experience level or background. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They are very helpful and provide useful insight and practical hand holding. I would encourage anyone to take advantage of their services.”
