John   Davis found success at South Bay One-Stop Business and Career Center in Inglewood

John Davis is a man who has encountered more than his share of unanticipated hardships. Finding a good job had almost become a hopeless waste of time from his vantage point. John decided that he would seek assistance in his job search efforts and in June of 1998 walked into the South Bay One-Stop Business & Career Center in Inglewood, where he was assessed and evaluated by experts in the field of job training and development. John was placed into an on-the-job training assignment with the City of Hawthorne’s Public Works Department as a laborer for $11.00 per hour. At the conclusion of his on-the-job training assignment, the City of Hawthorne expressed to Mr. Davis that they were very pleased with his performance on the job and just as soon as an opening within the department became available they would bring him back in as a permanent employee. 

Still in need of stable employment the job developers at the One-Stop Center sent John on job interviews at other companies. John was successful in obtaining employment with Telecomm Services Group. However, as they had promised, the City of Hawthorne called Mr. Davis and offered him a full time position earning even more money than they had paid him during his on-the-job training assignment, raising his hourly salary from $11.00 to almost $15.00 per hour. Today John is doing very well, and is happy with the new direction his life has taken. One of the best decisions he ever made for his future was that simple effort to come into the South Bay One-Stop Center in Inglewood.

John Davis’ participation in the on-the-job training program is an outstanding example of employment success.
